ECX NETWORK GUIDE

ECX Alpha, Beta and Mainnet Explained

eCash (ECX) launches in three stages: Alpha, Beta and Mainnet. Alpha and Beta introduce practice ECX for testing, while Mainnet establishes permanent ECX.

Current ECX Network

ECX Beta Testnet is the current stage. It uses practice ECX. Alpha was the first practice stage. Next stage: ECX Mainnet - ~Block 973,728 - target 31 Oct 2026.

What Are the Three ECX Network Stages?

The ECX launch is structured as three network stages rather than a single one-step release.

Alpha is the first practice stage. Beta is the second practice stage. Mainnet is the permanent ECX network launch.

The stages give users and developers an opportunity to interact with ECX before permanent Mainnet balances are established.

Key Point

Alpha and Beta are practice stages. Mainnet is the permanent ECX stage.

Dates are launch targets and should be kept synchronized with the official eCash launch page if they change. Bitcoin block heights are the more important protocol reference.

ECX Alpha Testnet

ECX Alpha is the first practice stage of the ECX launch.

Alpha begins around Bitcoin block 963,648. Bitcoin addresses receive matching practice ECX according to the Alpha-stage snapshot rules.

Alpha ECX should be clearly labeled Practice ECX throughout ECXIUM. It must not be presented as permanent Mainnet ECX.

Alpha Notice

ECX Alpha was the first practice stage of the ECX launch. Alpha used practice ECX for network and wallet testing. The active test network is now ECX Beta Testnet.

  • Recommended wallet label: ECX Alpha Testnet
  • Secondary label: Practice Network

ECX Beta Testnet

ECX Beta is the current practice stage and launched at Bitcoin block 967,680.

Like Alpha, Beta uses practice ECX rather than permanent Mainnet ECX.

This guide does not speculate about technical changes between Alpha and Beta. It describes Beta only using behavior confirmed by current network and software documentation.

Beta Notice

ECX Beta Testnet uses practice ECX. Permanent ECX begins on Mainnet.

  • Recommended wallet label: ECX Beta Testnet
  • Secondary label: Practice Network

ECX Mainnet

ECX Mainnet is the permanent network stage, targeted around Bitcoin block 973,728.

According to the official launch information, at Mainnet every Bitcoin address is credited with permanent ECX at a 1 BTC = 1 ECX ratio based on the applicable Mainnet snapshot.

BTC itself remains on Bitcoin. ECX is a separate asset on the ECX blockchain.

Mainnet

Mainnet is the stage at which permanent ECX balances are established.

  • Recommended wallet label: ECX Mainnet
  • Secondary label: Live Network

Practice ECX vs Permanent ECX

Practice ECX is associated with the Alpha and Beta stages and is intended for pre-Mainnet use and testing. Permanent ECX begins at Mainnet.

The official eCash launch page states that practice ECX from Alpha and Beta can be burned to redeem real ECX at Mainnet. This guide does not invent the exact burn transaction flow, redemption UI, timing, wallet support or eligibility edge cases.

Do Bitcoin Holders Receive ECX at Every Stage?

The launch uses Bitcoin-address snapshots across the Alpha, Beta and Mainnet stages.

The permanent 1:1 ECX allocation is tied to the Mainnet stage around block ~973,728. Alpha and Beta provide practice ECX earlier.

An Alpha balance does not automatically guarantee the same Mainnet balance. Bitcoin balances can change between snapshot blocks.

What Happens to Your Bitcoin?

The ECX launch does not convert Bitcoin into ECX and does not remove BTC from the Bitcoin blockchain.

BTC remains BTC. ECX exists alongside it on a separate blockchain.

When users later manage assets derived from shared pre-fork history, replay protection and safe coin separation are important. ECXIUM automatically handles safe coin splitting and replay protection for eligible Bitcoin-wallet imports where required.

Key Distinction

Your BTC remains on Bitcoin. ECX is a separate asset on the ECX blockchain.

Using ECXIUM During Alpha, Beta and Mainnet

ECXIUM should make the active network visible in both the wallet application and relevant documentation. The user should never have to infer whether a displayed balance is practice ECX or permanent ECX.

Alpha: ECX Alpha Testnet / Practice NetworkBeta: ECX Beta Testnet / Practice NetworkMainnet: ECX Mainnet / Live NetworkDuring Beta, always show ECX Beta Testnet and Practice ECX clearly near the wallet balance.

Importing an Eligible Bitcoin Wallet

Bitcoin holders can use ECXIUM's Import Wallet flow to access corresponding ECX when supported by the active network.

Import methods include a compatible Recovery Phrase and WIF private key.

ECXIUM automatically handles safe coin splitting and replay protection for eligible Bitcoin imports where required. This is not Bitcoin being converted into ECX.

Import Wallet Guide How to Claim ECX

Import Message

Import a supported eligible Bitcoin wallet. ECXIUM detects corresponding ECX and handles safe separation where required.

Check Your Bitcoin Address for ECX

Users who only want to check a Bitcoin address should not need to provide wallet secrets.

Only a public Bitcoin address should be used for the eligibility check. Never enter a Recovery Phrase or private key into a public-address checker.

Check Your Bitcoin Address for ECX

The eligibility checker is an external service and is not operated by ECXIUM.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is ECX Alpha?

ECX Alpha is the first practice stage of the ECX launch, beginning around Bitcoin block 963,648. It uses practice ECX rather than permanent Mainnet ECX.

What is ECX Beta?

ECX Beta is the current practice stage of the ECX launch. It launched at Bitcoin block 967,680 and uses practice ECX rather than permanent Mainnet ECX.

What is ECX Mainnet?

ECX Mainnet is the permanent network stage, targeted around Bitcoin block 973,728.

Are Alpha ECX permanent?

No. Alpha uses practice ECX.

Are Beta ECX permanent?

No. Beta also uses practice ECX.

When does permanent ECX begin?

Permanent ECX begins at Mainnet, targeted around block 973,728.

What is the ECX Mainnet date?

The current official target is 31 October 2026, around Bitcoin block 973,728. The block height is the more important protocol reference and the date may be updated.

What happens to practice ECX at Mainnet?

The official eCash launch information states that practice ECX from Alpha and Beta can be burned to redeem real ECX at Mainnet. This guide does not describe unconfirmed redemption mechanics beyond that statement.

Does ECX affect my BTC?

No. BTC remains on the Bitcoin blockchain. ECX is a separate asset.

Is the ECX allocation 1:1?

The official Mainnet launch information states that every Bitcoin address is credited with permanent ECX one-for-one at the applicable Mainnet snapshot.

Can I use ECXIUM during Alpha and Beta?

Yes. ECXIUM currently supports ECX Beta Testnet. Beta balances are practice ECX and the wallet should clearly distinguish them from permanent Mainnet ECX.

How can I check whether my Bitcoin address has ECX?

Use the public-address eligibility checker. Never enter a Recovery Phrase or private key into a checker.

Independent Project

ECXIUM is an independent wallet developed for the eCash (ECX) ecosystem. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by the official eCash project.

Use ECXIUM With the Active ECX Network

Create a wallet, import an eligible Bitcoin wallet or check public-address eligibility while keeping Alpha, Beta and Mainnet distinctions clear.
