How to Import Your Wallet

Import an existing ECX wallet or eligible Bitcoin wallet using a Recovery Phrase or WIF private key. Your wallet credentials are processed locally in your browser and remain under your control.

Bitcoin Wallet Import

Importing an eligible Bitcoin wallet does not require a manual claim or manual split. ECXIUM detects the corresponding ECX and automatically handles safe coin splitting and replay protection where required.

Secure Local Import

Your Recovery Phrase and private keys are processed locally in your browser. They are not uploaded to ECXIUM servers.

ECXIUM is a self-custody wallet. Importing restores access using credentials you control; it does not transfer custody of your wallet to ECXIUM.

When Should You Import a Wallet?

Import a wallet when you already control an existing ECX wallet, an eligible Bitcoin wallet, or compatible wallet credentials that you want to use with ECXIUM.

Instead of creating a new wallet, ECXIUM restores access from your existing Recovery Phrase or WIF private key.

Typical import cases:

  • Restore an existing ECX wallet.
  • Access ECX associated with an eligible Bitcoin wallet.
  • Restore a compatible wallet from a Recovery Phrase.
  • Import a specific address using a WIF private key.

STEP 6

If this is an eligible Bitcoin wallet

ECXIUM detects the corresponding ECX and automatically handles safe coin splitting and replay protection where required.

Importing an Existing ECX Wallet

If you already have an ECX wallet, import its compatible Recovery Phrase or WIF private key into ECXIUM.

A Recovery Phrase can restore the compatible wallet structure and associated addresses. A WIF private key imports only the address controlled by that key.

After restoration, you can view the ECX balance, receive ECX, send ECX and review transaction history from ECXIUM.

No Asset Transfer Required

Importing an existing ECX wallet restores access to the wallet. It does not require sending ECX to a new address simply to begin using ECXIUM.

Importing an Eligible Bitcoin Wallet

ECXIUM also supports importing eligible Bitcoin wallets.

If the imported Bitcoin keys correspond to an ECX allocation under the applicable snapshot rules, ECXIUM can detect the corresponding ECX on the active ECX network.

Because BTC and ECX share pre-fork history, safe coin separation and replay protection matter when the two assets are managed independently.

ECXIUM handles this process automatically where required. The user does not need to construct a separate Split transaction or use a manual migration wizard.

Correct Product Message

No manual claim. No manual split. Import the eligible Bitcoin wallet once. ECXIUM detects the corresponding ECX and handles safe coin splitting and replay protection automatically where required.

What Happens to Your BTC?

Importing a Bitcoin wallet into ECXIUM does not convert BTC into ECX.

Your BTC remains on the Bitcoin blockchain. ECX is a separate asset on the ECX network.

ECXIUM is designed to access and manage the corresponding ECX without taking custody of your Bitcoin.

The safe-splitting and replay-protection process is specifically intended to allow BTC and ECX to be managed independently after the fork.

Key Point

Your BTC stays on Bitcoin. ECX exists alongside it on a separate network.

Importing During Alpha, Beta and Mainnet

Check Bitcoin Address Eligibility Before Importing

If you only want to check whether a Bitcoin address has an ECX allocation, you do not need to expose wallet credentials.

Use a public-address eligibility checker. Only the public BTC address is required.

Never enter a Recovery Phrase or WIF private key into a public address checker.

Check Your Bitcoin Address for ECX

The eligibility checker is an external service and is not operated by ECXIUM.

What Happens After Import?

After a successful import, ECXIUM restores the compatible wallet information locally.

If you imported a Recovery Phrase, compatible derived addresses can be restored.

If you imported a WIF private key, only the corresponding address is imported.

During Alpha or Beta, the interface should clearly show that the user is operating with practice ECX.

How to Send and Receive ECX
  • View your ECX balance.
  • Receive ECX.
  • Send ECX on the active ECX network.
  • View transaction history.
  • Manage the wallet securely in your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which import method should I use?

Use a Recovery Phrase when you want to restore a complete compatible wallet and its derived addresses. Use WIF when you want to import one specific private key/address.

Can I import a Bitcoin wallet?

Yes. An eligible Bitcoin wallet can be imported using a compatible Recovery Phrase or WIF private key.

Does importing my Bitcoin wallet move my BTC?

No. BTC remains on the Bitcoin blockchain. Importing allows ECXIUM to detect and access the corresponding ECX on the ECX network.

Do I need to manually claim ECX?

No manual claim transaction is required in ECXIUM. Importing an eligible Bitcoin wallet allows ECXIUM to detect the corresponding ECX.

Do I need to manually split BTC and ECX?

No manual split is required with ECXIUM. ECXIUM automatically handles safe coin splitting and replay protection where required.

Why is replay protection important?

BTC and ECX share pre-fork transaction history. Replay protection helps prevent a transaction intended for one network from unintentionally affecting the corresponding asset on the other network.

Can I import multiple addresses?

A compatible Recovery Phrase can restore multiple derived addresses. A WIF private key imports one address only.

Can ECXIUM see my Recovery Phrase?

Wallet credentials are processed locally in the browser and are not uploaded to ECXIUM servers.

What if I enter the wrong Recovery Phrase?

The wallet cannot be correctly restored unless the phrase is valid and entered in the proper order.

Are Alpha and Beta ECX permanent?

No. Alpha and Beta use practice ECX. Permanent ECX begins with Mainnet.

Can I check eligibility without importing my wallet?

Yes. Use the external public-address checker with a BTC public address only. Never use a Recovery Phrase or private key for an eligibility check.
