GUIDE
Bitcoin and ECX share pre-fork transaction history, which makes safe coin separation important. ECXIUM automatically handles coin splitting and replay protection when you import an eligible Bitcoin wallet - no manual split process is required.
ECXIUM automatically handles safe coin splitting and replay protection. You do not need to construct a separate Split transaction.
After a Bitcoin fork, BTC remains on the Bitcoin network while the new asset exists on a separate blockchain.
Coin splitting is the process of making sure the two assets can be moved independently after the fork.
The purpose is not to convert BTC into ECX. Your Bitcoin remains Bitcoin. Splitting simply makes it safe to manage BTC and ECX separately on their respective networks.
This distinction matters because Bitcoin and the forked network share blockchain history from before the fork.
BTC and ECX are separate assets. Safe splitting allows them to be transacted independently.
Before the fork, Bitcoin and ECX share the same historical transaction data. After the fork, the two blockchains begin developing independently.
However, if transaction formats remain compatible, a transaction created for one network may potentially also be valid on the other network.
This creates a replay risk.
A safe split establishes independent spendable histories for BTC and ECX so that a transaction on one network does not unintentionally move the corresponding asset on the other network.
Separate blockchains do not automatically guarantee that every post-fork transaction is safe from replay.
Transaction replay occurs when a valid transaction from one blockchain can also be accepted by another blockchain that shares compatible transaction history and rules.
For example, a user may intend to send BTC only on the Bitcoin network. If the corresponding transaction is also valid on the ECX network, the ECX associated with the same keys could potentially move as well.
Replay protection is designed to prevent this type of cross-chain transaction duplication.
Key Point. Replay protection helps ensure that a transaction intended for BTC affects BTC only, while an ECX transaction affects ECX only.
A safe splitting process creates a distinction between the spendable coins on the two networks.
Once the assets have been safely separated, BTC and ECX can be managed independently.
The exact technical mechanism depends on the fork protocol and wallet implementation. Users should not improvise manual transactions unless they fully understand the replay behavior of both networks.
ECXIUM is designed to handle the required separation automatically for eligible imported Bitcoin wallets.
When you import an eligible Bitcoin wallet into ECXIUM, the wallet detects the corresponding ECX associated with the imported keys.
ECXIUM then automatically handles safe coin splitting and replay protection where required.
There is no separate manual Split button, migration wizard or claim transaction that the user must construct.
After the process is complete, ECX can be managed in ECXIUM independently from BTC on the Bitcoin network.

Importing an eligible Bitcoin wallet into ECXIUM does not convert BTC into ECX and does not transfer ownership of your Bitcoin to ECXIUM.
BTC remains on the Bitcoin blockchain.
ECXIUM is non-custodial. The wallet operates with the credentials you control and is designed to access the corresponding ECX on the ECX network.
Because replay protection matters after a fork, users should avoid unnecessary post-fork BTC transactions until they understand whether their BTC and ECX have been safely separated.
Your BTC stays on Bitcoin. ECX exists alongside it on the separate ECX network.
The ECX network launches in three stages.
ECX Alpha Testnet
Practice ECXECX Beta Testnet
Practice ECXECX Mainnet
Permanent ECXImportant: Alpha and Beta balances are practice ECX. Permanent ECX begins with Mainnet.

Use a compatible Recovery Phrase or WIF private key.
Enter the wallet credentials locally in ECXIUM.
The wallet identifies the corresponding ECX associated with eligible imported Bitcoin keys.
ECXIUM handles coin splitting and replay protection automatically where required.
After separation, manage ECX independently in your ECXIUM wallet.
The absence of a manual Split button does not mean that coin separation is unnecessary. It means ECXIUM performs the safe split automatically as part of the import workflow.
| Method | Use Case | ECXIUM Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Recovery Phrase | Restore a compatible wallet derived from a seed phrase. | Can restore the compatible wallet structure and associated addresses. |
| WIF Private Key | Import one specific private key. | Imports the address controlled by that private key; one key corresponds to one public address. |
Before importing a wallet, you can check a public Bitcoin address to see whether it has an ECX allocation associated with a snapshot.
The checker requires only a public BTC address. It should never require your Recovery Phrase or private key.

The eligibility checker is an external service and is not operated by ECXIUM.
BTC continues to function normally on the Bitcoin network after the ECX fork.
However, when two networks share compatible pre-fork transaction history, users should understand replay protection before making transactions that spend post-fork coins.
If an eligible Bitcoin wallet is imported into ECXIUM, ECXIUM automatically handles the ECX-side safe splitting and replay-protection process where required.
Once the assets are safely separated, BTC and ECX can be managed independently on their respective networks.
Not when using ECXIUM. ECXIUM automatically handles safe coin splitting and replay protection when an eligible Bitcoin wallet is imported.
No. Safe separation still matters. ECXIUM performs the required process automatically rather than asking the user to construct a manual split transaction.
Replay protection prevents a transaction intended for one blockchain from unintentionally being accepted on the other blockchain after a fork.
If two forked networks share compatible transaction history and replay protection has not been applied, transaction replay may be possible. Safe splitting is designed to prevent this.
No. BTC remains on the Bitcoin network. ECXIUM is used to access and manage the corresponding ECX on the ECX network.
No. Alpha and Beta use practice ECX. Permanent ECX begins with Mainnet.
A compatible Recovery Phrase can be imported into ECXIUM. ECXIUM can then detect eligible ECX and handle the safe separation process automatically.
Yes, a compatible WIF private key can be imported. It represents the specific address controlled by that key.
ECXIUM does not require a separate manual Claim transaction followed by a manual Split transaction. Importing an eligible Bitcoin wallet allows ECXIUM to detect the corresponding ECX and handle safe separation automatically.
Yes. A public Bitcoin address can be checked using the external ECX eligibility checker without exposing a Recovery Phrase or private key.
ECXIUM is an independent wallet developed for the eCash (ECX) ecosystem. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by the official eCash project.
